About Whiskey Library
Whiskey Library is a direct-to-consumer bourbon subscription built around curated, hard-to-find pours and an exceptional member experience. We're a lean, fast-moving team scaling a recurring-revenue business where retention is the model. We're hiring our first dedicated Lifecycle/Retention Marketing Manager to own and grow our relationship with subscribers.
The Role
As the Lifecycle / Retention Marketing Manager, you will own our entire retention engine — every message a subscriber receives across email and SMS, the automated flows that keep them engaged, the campaigns driving each release, and the offers that keep them subscribed. This is a hands-on, strategic-and-executional role: you'll set the retention strategy and build it in Klaviyo yourself. You'll work directly with the founder and closely partner with our developer (subscriptions/Recharge), media buyer (acquisition), and affiliate/UGC manager during US Eastern hours.
This is the single most important lever on our subscriber lifetime value, and you'll own it end-to-end.
What You'll Own
Email & SMS channel: Full ownership of strategy, calendar, and execution in Klaviyo
Lifecycle flows: Onboarding/welcome, replenishment, renewal, post-purchase, winback, and churn-prevention automations
Campaigns: New release & barrel-pick announcements, seasonal pushes, promos, newsletters, and subscription/mystery-box drops
Retention offers: Save/cancel-deflection, pause-instead-of-cancel, winback incentives, loyalty and milestone rewards (within margin guardrails set with the founder)
Segmentation & personalization: By tier, tenure, behavior, and churn risk
Churn & failed-payment recovery: Partnering with our developer on Recharge dunning and subscription mechanics
Reporting: Own retention KPIs such as churn rate, LTV, revenue per send, cohort performance; report results and iterate
Deliverability & list health: Manage sender reputation, suppression, and compliance
What We're Looking For
3–6 years in lifecycle, retention, CRM, or email/SMS marketing for a DTC brand
Hands-on Klaviyo expertise — you build flows and campaigns yourself
Subscription / recurring-revenue experience — replenishment, renewal, churn, winback, and save offers (must-have)
Recharge (or comparable subscription platform) familiarity
Proven results moving LTV and reducing churn, with numbers to back it up
Strong instinct for segmentation, testing, and offer strategy
Fluent written and spoken English
