Director of Machine Learning, Trade Compliance
As the Director of Machine Learning for Trade Compliance at Altana, you will lead a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop advanced AI/ML models for classifying shipment information, predicting customs classifications, detecting fraud, and understanding global supply chain networks. This strategic role involves leveraging cutting-edge techniques like deep neural networks, NLP, and graph neural networks to deliver meaningful value to customers facing complex macroeconomic problems.
As the Director of Machine Learning for Trade Compliance, you will lead a team focused on a fundamental workflow: understanding and classifying shipment-related information to deliver value to Altana's customers. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer and Chief Science Officer, you will be instrumental in shaping the culture and environment for applying cutting-edge AI and ML to understand shipment attributes and predict modeling outcomes such as customs classifications, fraudulent shipments, trade-based money laundering detection, know your customer processes, and other network classification and understanding tasks. This role involves techniques like deep neural networks (including graph neural networks), NLP techniques, combining categorical features with textual features and graph networks, tree-based models, probability/likelihood estimation, and contextual multi-arm bandit problems. This is a strategic position that enables Altana to provide meaningful value to customers facing significant macroeconomic challenges.
