Director of Data Science - Shipt

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the analytics and AI strategy for the Marketplace Product, aligning technical roadmaps with business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team of 7‑10 data scientists, fostering a culture of experimentation and customer obsession.
• Design and implement advanced machine‑learning models and data pipelines that surface friction points and unlock new growth pathways.
• Partner with product, engineering, and senior leadership to translate insights into product features and measurable business impact.
• Champion best practices in data governance, reproducibility, and scalable cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS).

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience building and deploying machine‑learning solutions in production, preferably in e‑commerce or marketplace environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms such as AWS; experience with containerization and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Proven track record of leading data‑science teams, setting vision, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
• Deep understanding of statistical modeling, experiment design, and AI techniques (e.g., deep learning, recommendation systems).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to translate complex analytics into actionable product decisions.
