Zillow Offers is an initiative at the core of Zillow’s evolution, focused on creating the future of real estate. We aim to make it simple to buy and sell homes, by giving consumers certainty and control and sparing them the tremendous stress of the traditional process. Our machine learning team is a collaborative group of applied scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers designing and building the models and platforms that power the Zillow Offers product.

About The Role

The Director of Machine Learning Engineering for Zillow Offers will lead, manage and inspire the engineering teams responsible for building and bringing to production scalable machine learning models across all areas of the business. More specifically, the role will assume the following responsibilities:

• Build the systems that power solutions for a diverse set of problems from automated and human in the loop pricing and valuation, to routing and scheduling for renovations. From risk management to inventory management. This team covers it all.
• Recruit, hire, and mentor exceptional software and machine learning engineers and managers, while maintaining an exceptional team culture in a fast paced environment
• Work with product management, product development, operations, and other business partners to define requirements, guide product strategy and architectural vision, and prioritization.
• Collaborate with data and applied science teams to integrate research into a technical roadmap for product development.

Who you are

• 7+ years of relevant software development experience
• 5+ years experience managing people and scaling teams. Strong leadership skills. You can motivate and grow an organization, and build the respect of executives and developers.
• A track record of building reliable, scalable, and trusted end-to-end ML pipelines, using distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark), cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS), and data analysis languages (Python, Scala, R, etc.) with machine learning packages (e.g. scikit-learn)
• The vision required to think ahead and build machine learning for the future of Zillow Group and become a trusted partner to senior leadership and functional managers across the company.
