Director Data Science

About the Role

Harnham are working with a leading UK lender in London who are hiring for a Data Science / Decision Science Director to head up their Data team. You will lead a group of 15 people, made up of Data Scientists and Credit Risk Analysts; your focus will be to lead the company through a data transformation, making use of advanced data science techniques to improve a wide range of decisioning problems across the business (mainly credit risk and marketing models). The company has performed well during Covid-19 and is now looking to invest in their data capability, starting with this key leadership hire.

Responsibilities

• Report into C-Level Executives and take ownership over the company's data infrastructure and analytics capability
• Train, mentor and manage a team of 15 Data Scientists and Analysts, making sure the team is up-to-date on innovative best practice and the latest in technologies/techniques
• Lead the company's data transformation and have responsibility for implementing innovative best practice in several key areas
• Leverage data science and machine learning within the team to improve several key areas across risk and marketing.

Requirements

• A BSc or MSc in a quantitative discipline
• Significant leadership experience in both a credit risk and data science capacity
• Proven experience in leading high-performing teams of Data Scientists and Analysts
• Demonstrated experience in delivering impactful machine learning across several years in industry (risk and marketing)
• Experience reporting to C-level executives
• Experience in delivering on a data transformation and roadmap (from conception and ideation through to delivery).
