The Director, Cloud Engineering is a senior engineering leader responsible for building, leading, and scaling a high-performing cloud engineering organization that supports the myQ platform and other IoT products. This role sets the direction for cloud architecture, automation, reliability, and operational excellence, ensuring the platform remains resilient, secure, and scalable as the business grows. Success is defined by the strength of the organization, the robustness of the cloud platform, and the ability to continuously evolve cloud capabilities to enable innovation, operational efficiency, and trusted customer experiences.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and scale a world‑class cloud engineering organization supporting IoT services, including the myQ platform, by developing senior engineers, architects, and SRE leaders and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Define and execute the cloud platform strategy across architecture, scalability, reliability, security, and cost optimization to support millions of connected devices and evolving business needs.
- Provide architectural and operational leadership for AWS‑based cloud services, ensuring platforms are secure, highly available, resilient, and cost‑effective.
- Establish and drive engineering excellence practices, including design reviews, coding standards, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and automation to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery.
- Embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles across cloud teams, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, post‑incident reviews, capacity planning, and operational readiness.
- Lead performance, load, and stress testing initiatives to validate platform behavior under real‑world conditions and ensure reliability during peak traffic and device usage.
- Create and grow a Cloud and SRE Community of Practice, enabling knowledge sharing, skill development, and alignment on cloud‑native best practices across engineering teams.
- Partner closely with product, application, and security teams to enable fast, reliable, and secure delivery of cloud‑based IoT products and services.
- Define, track, and act on platform KPIs, including availability, latency, throughput, deployment velocity, cost efficiency, and customer experience metrics.
