Security Engineer
Lead secure, reliable delivery of a mission‑critical VA cloud platform, driving CI/CD architecture, automation, and SRE practices across AWS/GCP environments.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines that integrate automated testing, compliance checks, and deployment to production environments.
- Design and implement SRE solutions, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and capacity planning for high‑availability VA services.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to embed security best practices throughout the software lifecycle.
- Lead automation initiatives using IaC, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud-native services to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement of platform reliability metrics, SLAs, and post‑incident reviews.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in DevSecOps, SRE, or related roles, with a proven track record in large‑scale cloud environments.
- Deep expertise in CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong background in security practices, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks relevant to government or regulated sectors.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor cross‑functional teams.
- Experience with VA or other federal agency platforms is a plus.
