About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, including domain controllers, file services, and group policy.
- Administer Active Directory, user accounts, and security permissions across the council’s network.
- Deploy, configure, and support VMware virtual machines and Azure cloud services for remote island sites.
- Automate routine tasks with PowerShell scripts and monitor system health using monitoring tools.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for desktop, laptop, and peripheral issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to implement security patches, updates, and disaster recovery plans.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing Windows Server and Active Directory in a multi-site environment.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and familiarity with automation tools.
- Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere and Azure services.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in remote locations.
