Senior database engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing PostgreSQL and Oracle databases for national security applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable PostgreSQL and Oracle database solutions for mission‑critical intelligence systems.
- Implement ETL pipelines and data integration workflows to ingest, transform, and load large datasets.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to meet stringent SLAs.
- Collaborate with data architects, developers, and security teams to enforce data governance and compliance.
- Document database schemas, processes, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in database engineering with strong proficiency in SQL and PostgreSQL.
- Solid background in Oracle database administration and performance tuning.
- Hands‑on experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend) and scripting languages such as Python.
- Knowledge of data modeling, indexing strategies, and high‑availability architectures.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, security‑focused environment.
