Senior Database Administrator responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high‑availability database environments using SQL and related technologies, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and security across enterprise systems.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage relational database systems (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) to support mission‑critical applications.
- Implement performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization to meet SLAs and improve response times.
- Plan and execute backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Enforce database security policies, including access controls, encryption, and audit logging.
- Monitor database health, capacity, and resource utilization; proactively address issues and recommend enhancements.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to integrate database solutions into broader IT initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience administering enterprise databases.
- Proficiency in SQL, database design, and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery, high‑availability, and security best practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a federal environment.
