About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and secure Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases supporting Army applications.
- Implement and enforce security policies, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability remediation.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and query optimization to meet strict SLA requirements.
- Design and execute backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery strategies, conducting regular restore tests.
- Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) for routine maintenance, patching, and reporting.
- Collaborate with developers, network engineers, and client stakeholders to resolve database‑related incidents.
Requirements
- Active U.S. security clearance (Secret or higher) and eligibility to work on defense contracts.
- 5+ years of hands‑on DBA experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, and compliance frameworks (e.g., DISA STIG, NIST).
- Proven expertise in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high‑availability architectures.
- Experience scripting automation tasks using PowerShell or Python.
