Senior Database Administrator with deep expertise in PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, responsible for deployment, tuning, monitoring, and security of mission‑critical data platforms.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL instances on AWS RDS, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Implement and maintain robust security policies, including role‑based access control and data encryption at rest and in transit.
- Perform proactive performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to meet SLAs.
- Monitor database health using CloudWatch, RDS metrics, and custom dashboards; troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with application teams to support development, testing, and deployment of database‑centric features.
- Document procedures, create runbooks, and conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions for cross‑functional teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of DBA experience with PostgreSQL, preferably in a cloud environment.
- Strong command of AWS services (RDS, IAM, KMS) and database security best practices.
- Hands‑on experience with query profiling, performance tuning, and replication strategies.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with developers, ops, and stakeholders.
