Data Visualisation Engineer building interactive dashboards and visual analytics using Python, JavaScript, D3.js and SQL to transform complex datasets into actionable insights for journalism and business teams.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain interactive visualisations and dashboards that support investigative journalism and business intelligence.
- Collaborate with data scientists and journalists to translate raw data into clear, engaging visual stories.
- Implement scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL to ingest, clean and transform data for visualisation.
- Optimize front‑end performance and accessibility of visualisations across web and mobile platforms.
- Stay current with emerging visualisation libraries and best practices, and evangelise new techniques within the team.
Requirements
- Proven experience building data visualisations with JavaScript (D3.js, Chart.js, or similar).
- Strong Python skills for data manipulation and automation.
- Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL query optimisation.
- Experience with version control (Git) and agile development workflows.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex data concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
