About the Role
As a member of the software engineering division at Oracle, you will play a pivotal role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing, and debugging of software applications or operating systems. This is a non-routine and complex position, requiring advanced technical/business skills in the area of specialization. You will act as a leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
The Fusion Applications Cloud Services team is building a next-generation cloud platform that supports demanding mission-critical customer requirements, operating at a global scale to provide secure, distributed, multi-tenant cloud environments for Fusion and other Oracle applications. This is an opportunity to be a core part of the team defining and delivering exciting new capabilities for Oracle’s flagship Fusion Applications Cloud Services space. We are seeking a candidate with strong software development and/or system engineering experience in platform-level products or services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the identification, analysis, and design of highly complex new and existing systems by analyzing data, conferring with subject matter experts to define requirements and objectives, and evaluating the feasibility of proposed new solutions.
- Appraise the practicability of enhancements to existing systems and proposed new systems, and recommend solutions.
- Make technical decisions in systems architecture, including development and maintenance processes.
- Lead and coordinate efforts between cross-functional teams to develop best-in-class capabilities for the service.
- Assess appropriate trade-offs to optimize customer experience, time-to-market, and clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal stakeholders and remote teams.
- Develop software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to identify meaningful insights for operation from large data and metadata.
- Work with customers, engineering, and internal stakeholders to gain operational insight across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
- Increase operational efficiency by reducing noise and enriching incident data.
- Increase uptime of the system by predicting failure and taking proactive action.
- Contribute to Reliability Engineering, Performance Analytics, and Capacity Forecasting.
- Lead and participate in planning meetings and provide leadership on the direction of products.
- Communicate vision and goals of existing and new products to internal stakeholders, the analyst community, and customers.
- Influence engineering organizations to focus on new feature innovation.
- Work closely with the SaaS and Platform teams and be their internal and external champion.
- Define, implement, and analyze success metrics.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer.
- Attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, simultaneously.
- Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Computer Science or Statistics.
- Experience in data science or related technology.
- Experience in designing and launching Cloud products.
- Expertise in machine learning/statistical methods.
- Good understanding of Cloud Native technologies.
