Data Scientist responsible for designing predictive models, analyzing large education‑related datasets, and delivering data‑driven insights to improve federal student aid operations using Python, R, and SQL.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and deploy predictive and prescriptive models to support student aid allocation and risk management.
- Extract, clean, and transform large datasets from multiple federal systems using SQL and data‑engineering best practices.
- Perform statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Collaborate with program managers and policy analysts to translate analytical findings into strategic recommendations.
- Document methodologies, create reproducible code, and present results to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Python and R for data analysis, machine learning, and visualization.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and large‑scale data warehouses.
- Solid foundation in statistical modeling, experimental design, and data mining techniques.
- Experience building and deploying machine‑learning models in a production environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
