Data Scientist/Analyst supporting the U.S. DFC Office of Inspector General, delivering advanced analytics for audits, investigations, and inspections using Python, SQL, and data‑visualization tools to uncover insights and drive evidence‑based decisions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and clarify analytic task requests from OIG stakeholders, defining objectives, data needs, and assumptions.
- Design, develop, and maintain data models, pipelines, and dashboards to support audits, evaluations, inspections, and investigative activities.
- Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and advanced analytics techniques to identify patterns, anomalies, and risk indicators in large datasets.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and actionable insights.
- Document methodologies, results, and recommendations for internal and external reporting.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Experience with data‑visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on audit and investigative contexts.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present complex findings to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
