About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI/ML models and quantum‑computing algorithms to extract insights from large‑scale Earth observation datasets.
- Develop and maintain geospatial analytics pipelines, integrating satellite imagery, GIS data, and scientific metadata.
- Research emerging technologies, evaluate their suitability for NASA Earth science applications, and produce proof‑of‑concept prototypes.
- Collaborate with domain scientists and software engineers to translate research requirements into production‑ready scientific software.
- Optimize data processing workflows for performance and scalability on high‑performance and cloud computing environments.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with machine‑learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit‑learn.
- Hands‑on experience with geospatial tools (e.g., GDAL, PostGIS, ArcGIS) and processing of satellite or remote‑sensing data.
- Familiarity with quantum‑computing concepts or frameworks (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq) and ability to prototype quantum algorithms.
- Background in scientific software development, including version control, testing, and documentation best practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
