Engineering Manager
Lead a high‑performing data engineering team to design, build, and scale robust data pipelines and platforms using Python, SQL, Airflow and AWS, driving data‑driven insights for cancer research initiatives.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the data engineering strategy, aligning pipelines and architecture with research and business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL processes using Python, SQL and Apache Airflow on AWS cloud services.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product owners to deliver reliable data models and self‑service data products.
- Ensure data security, governance, and compliance across all data assets.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on data engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Strong experience building data pipelines on AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda) and implementing data modeling best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into scalable technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for advancing scientific research.
