Data Engineer
Senior Data Engineer building and optimizing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure, leveraging Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks and Airflow to deliver high‑performance data solutions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks and Airflow.
- Write, optimise and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures and data transformations across large datasets.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting to ensure pipeline reliability and performance.
- Manage and scale Azure cloud data platforms, ensuring cost‑effective and secure data storage and processing.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a strong background in Azure data services.
- Advanced SQL skills and hands‑on experience with complex query optimisation.
- Deep knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and experience building pipelines in Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, or Airflow.
- Strong understanding of Azure cloud data platforms, including data lake, data warehouse and compute services.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
