Software Engineer
Data Centre Engineer responsible for on‑site operations, troubleshooting hardware and software across networking gear and servers, installing and configuring OS, monitoring performance, and providing 24/7 support to maintain uptime and reliability.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the Nottingham Data Centre, ensuring all customer platforms run smoothly and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues across networking gear, servers, and storage systems.
- Install, configure, and patch operating systems (Linux and Windows Server) and related applications.
- Monitor system performance, analyze alerts, and proactively address potential reliability issues.
- Provide 24/7 on‑call support as part of a rotating shift schedule, documenting incidents and resolutions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement infrastructure improvements and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in data centre operations, including server and networking hardware.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 environment.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
