Software Engineer
Co-op Data and AI Engineering Associate responsible for building data pipelines, integrating sensor and EHR data, and developing AI models to support real‑time surgical monitoring and decision support.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest continuous physiological sensor streams and electronic health record data.
- Implement ETL processes and data transformations using Python, SQL, and cloud services (AWS) to ensure data quality and availability for analytics.
- Collaborate with AI researchers to prototype, train, and evaluate machine‑learning models that detect clinical deterioration and surgical complications.
- Containerize data services and model inference workloads with Docker for reproducible deployment.
- Document data schemas, workflows, and best practices, and provide technical support to cross‑functional teams.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related program; 8+ months of co‑op availability preferred.
- Proficiency in Python programming and SQL query writing.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization tools (Docker).
- Familiarity with machine‑learning concepts and data‑engineering frameworks (e.g., Airflow, Spark) is a plus.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary environment.
