Data Analyst needed to manage, QA/QC, and analyze fishery‑dependent data for the Southeast Region Headboat Survey, creating databases, reports, and visualizations to support fisheries statistics and regulatory compliance.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update relational databases containing fishery‑dependent data, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Perform QA/QC on biological samples and associated datasets, identifying and correcting inconsistencies.
- Develop statistical analyses and predictive models using Python, R, or similar tools to support fisheries assessments.
- Create clear, actionable reports and visual dashboards for internal teams and external government agencies.
- Integrate spatial data using GIS to map survey effort, catch locations, and habitat information.
- Collaborate with field staff and scientists to translate raw survey data into meaningful analytical products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biology, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation languages (Python or R) with experience in statistical modeling.
- Strong knowledge of GIS concepts and ability to work with spatial datasets.
- Demonstrated experience creating data visualizations and reports for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently in a remote‑friendly environment.
