Data Analyst
Analyze and validate large traffic datasets, generate performance reports, and support Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) initiatives using SQL, Python, and the STARS II platform.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Process, clean, and validate high‑volume traffic count data from TxDOT sources.
- Generate regular and ad‑hoc reports on traffic trends, volume statistics, and highway performance metrics.
- Utilize the Statewide Analysis and Reporting System II (STARS II) to extract, transform, and load data for analysis.
- Collaborate with engineers and planners to ensure data accuracy for the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS).
- Develop and maintain SQL queries and Python scripts to automate data workflows and improve efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience with SQL and data manipulation; familiarity with Python for data processing is preferred.
- Understanding of traffic monitoring concepts and HPMS data structures.
- Ability to work with large datasets, perform quality checks, and produce clear documentation.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
