Software Engineer
Support and maintain technology systems for Child and Youth Services, ensuring reliable IT infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and documenting solutions to enable efficient service delivery.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day technical support for Windows and Linux workstations, servers, and network devices used by Child and Youth Services staff.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, escalating complex issues to senior engineers as needed.
- Maintain inventory of IT assets, perform regular updates, patches, and backups to ensure system integrity.
- Document troubleshooting steps, create knowledge base articles, and train end users on best practices.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement new applications and improve existing workflows.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on IT support experience in a government or educational environment.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux distributions (Ubuntu/Debian).
- Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.
- Valid security clearance or willingness to obtain one.
