Security Engineer
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer with deep expertise in acquisition security, system security engineering, and program protection, embedded within the U.S. Coast Guard acquisition enterprise to integrate security from concept through sustainment.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate cybersecurity and program protection requirements into Coast Guard acquisition policies, programs, and system designs.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders to embed security controls throughout the acquisition lifecycle, from concept development to sustainment.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and compliance reviews using the NIST Risk Management Framework.
- Develop and maintain system security plans, security assessment reports, and continuous monitoring strategies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to acquisition teams on security best practices and emerging threats.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in system security engineering and acquisition cybersecurity within a federal or defense environment.
- Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and other relevant cybersecurity standards.
- Proven ability to work directly with government stakeholders and translate security requirements into actionable acquisition deliverables.
- Experience with program protection concepts and implementing security controls across complex, multi‑disciplinary programs.
- Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
