Security Engineer
Design and implement secure architectures for Department of Defense systems, applying hardening techniques, threat modeling, and cloud security controls to reduce attack surface and meet stringent security clearance requirements.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate security solutions into DoD system architectures, ensuring compliance with federal security standards.
- Perform threat modeling and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks across hardware, software, and network layers.
- Implement system hardening procedures, including configuration management, patching, and secure baseline development.
- Develop and enforce cloud security controls for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments, leveraging best‑practice frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate security requirements into actionable engineering designs and documentation.
Requirements
- Active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher) and proven experience in cybersecurity engineering.
- Strong knowledge of system hardening, threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE, ATT&CK), and risk assessment processes.
- Hands‑on experience securing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and implementing zero‑trust architectures.
- Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and scripting for automation.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills to convey complex security concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
