Software Engineer
Lead the design and implementation of a council-wide enterprise data architecture, shaping data structure, integration, and governance to deliver high‑quality, consistent data that supports strategic decision‑making and service delivery.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain the council’s enterprise data architecture, ensuring alignment with business strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Lead data modelling initiatives, creating logical and physical models that support reporting, analytics and operational systems.
- Define and enforce data governance policies, standards and quality metrics across all data domains.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, data stewards and technical teams to drive data integration, migration and transformation projects.
- Provide technical guidance on ETL processes, data warehousing and metadata management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a data architect or similar role in a complex, multi‑system environment.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, ETL, and data governance frameworks.
- Hands‑on expertise with SQL and relational database design.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud or hybrid data platforms is an advantage.
