Software Engineer
Lead engineering and works planning for a dynamic local government, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing project schedules, budgets, and stakeholder relationships to deliver high‑quality infrastructure and community projects.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering and works plans for council projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams, including architects, engineers, contractors and community stakeholders, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Lead risk assessment and mitigation activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations and documentation for council committees, external agencies and the public.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering coordination or works planning within a public or large private sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and budgeting software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
