Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Analyze in depth customer specification, identify gaps, raise clarifications & build solid technical solution to cater to customer requirement for HVDC & AC control & protection system
Prepare control, protection and sequencing strategy specifications
Perform preliminary dynamic performance studies in various simulation tools (MATLAB, PSCAD etc).
Support improvements to existing algorithm/strategies for power fault recovery or instability issues during DPS studies
Ensure that project plans contain the necessary activities and studies required to meet the requirements of the customer and the proposed technical solution
In coordination with systems team, design/contribute to AC substation Single line diagrams
Develop/ Customize standard control architectures, design of LAN networks, identify main IO lists through signal mapping & implement the necessary hardware & its compatibility with the control system
Knowledge of network and latest protocols (like IEC 61850) and understanding of basic substation architecture
In coordination with cybersecurity expert, analyze compliance to cybersecurity standards and their implementation in the network
Coordinate with internal and external partners to provide a complete solution with clear division of responsibility
Support input data like auxiliary consumption, cubicle/equipment list to partners
Prepare technical specifications for sourcing and validation of offers received.
Lead the discussions during customer meetings/workshops
Plan & ensure on-time delivery of engineering documents and cost estimates
Evaluate risks and opportunities & proposes mitigation measures
Contribute to continuous improvement by participating & promoting standardization of tools, documents, solutions & equipment
Follow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.

Qualifications / Essential Requirements
Degree in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field.
Minimum of 2 -3 years’ experience in control and protection system design
Knowledge of Electrical Substation and its HV, LV equipment and Auxiliary Systems
Experience in PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools is a must
Strong background on Electrical power system protection & control
Experience in working with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, e-base, Microsoft Visio is good to have
Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risks
