Cloud DevOps Engineer - AWS - Westpac Group

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and platform teams to design, implement, and operate secure AWS architectures, including emerging AI and generative AI services.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and CloudFormation to ensure repeatable, auditable deployments.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) that automate build, test, and release processes for containerized applications.
• Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate them on Kubernetes/EKS, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Provide technical guidance, best‑practice patterns, and enablement workshops to internal development teams throughout their cloud journey.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve cloud environments, focusing on security, cost optimization, and reliability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and managing solutions on AWS.
• Proficiency with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong background in CI/CD automation and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
• Solid scripting/programming skills, preferably in Python or Bash, for automation and tooling.
• Understanding of cloud security best practices, networking, and cost‑management strategies.
