Climate Litigation Database Manager - Columbia University

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain a robust climate litigation database, ensuring data integrity and compliance with institutional standards.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, data models, and reporting tools to support research, case tracking, and policy analysis.
• Collaborate with legal scholars, researchers, and IT staff to define data requirements, capture new litigation events, and update metadata.
• Perform data quality checks, cleansing, and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency across datasets.
• Document database architecture, processes, and best practices for future maintenance and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex legal information into structured data.
• Familiarity with climate law, environmental litigation, or related policy areas is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and documentation.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to work independently in a temporary, project‑focused environment.
