Research Engineer
Lead bioinformatics analyses and develop scalable pipelines using Python, R, and AWS to accelerate translational research and data-driven discoveries.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain reproducible bioinformatics pipelines for genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data using Python, R, and workflow engines.
- Apply machine learning techniques to extract biological insights from large-scale datasets and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate findings into actionable research.
- Optimize data storage and processing on AWS, ensuring high performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain SQL databases for efficient data retrieval and integration across multiple research projects.
- Document methods, produce technical reports, and present results to stakeholders, including senior scientists and external partners.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience.
- Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis and pipeline development.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, EMR, SageMaker) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong SQL skills and experience managing large biological datasets.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
