Research Engineer
Lead development of bioinformatics pipelines and data science solutions using Python, R, and SQL, integrating machine learning models on AWS to accelerate translational research and support national research institutions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for genomic and proteomic data analysis.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models to extract insights from large biomedical datasets.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate research requirements into technical solutions.
- Optimize data workflows and ensure reproducibility using version control and containerization.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Python and R, with experience in data manipulation libraries (pandas, dplyr).
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database design.
- Hands‑on experience with machine learning frameworks (scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, GATK, SAMtools) and genomic data formats.
- Experience deploying applications on AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker).
