Research Engineer
Lead bioinformatics pipeline development, optimizing alignment and methylation analysis workflows using BWA, Bismark, and custom batch scripts to process BAM and BED files efficiently.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance bioinformatics pipelines for genomic data processing.
- Optimize BWA alignment workflows and Bismark methylation calling to handle large-scale datasets.
- Develop and manage batch scripts for automated data ingestion, quality control, and result aggregation.
- Collaborate with data scientists to integrate new tools and improve analytical accuracy.
- Document pipeline architecture, usage guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience with BAM/BED file manipulation and BWA/Bismark tools.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash or Python for batch processing.
- Solid understanding of genomic data formats and best practices in bioinformatics.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimize resource usage.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
