Azure Cloud Database Administrator responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining Azure SQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security while leveraging PowerShell and Azure DevOps for automation and monitoring.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage Azure SQL Database instances, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
- Configure and maintain high availability solutions such as Azure SQL Managed Instance and Elastic Pools.
- Automate database provisioning, patching, and backup using PowerShell scripts and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and apply T‑SQL tuning and indexing strategies.
- Implement security best practices, including encryption, firewall rules, and role‑based access control.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to support CI/CD for database deployments.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience administering Azure SQL Database and on‑premises SQL Server.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Azure DevOps for automation.
- Strong knowledge of T‑SQL, database backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Azure monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics) and alerting.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
