Avionics Hardware Engineer III - Blue Origin
Embedded Systems Engineer
Design and validate avionics hardware for a heavy‑lift launch vehicle, applying expertise in C++, VHDL, MATLAB, and embedded signal‑processing to ensure reliable performance from development through flight operations.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate avionics hardware modules for the New Glenn launch vehicle, including power, data, and communication subsystems.
- Create and maintain hardware description language (HDL) models and firmware in C++ to meet stringent aerospace requirements.
- Perform signal‑processing analysis and simulation using MATLAB to validate sensor and control system performance.
- Lead hardware verification, environmental testing, and failure‑mode analysis throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—systems, software, and test engineering—to resolve integration issues and drive design improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of avionics hardware experience.
- Proficiency in C++ programming and VHDL/Verilog for FPGA or ASIC development.
- Strong background in embedded systems design, signal processing, and hardware testing methodologies.
- Experience with aerospace standards (e.g., MIL‑STD, NASA‑STD) and rigorous documentation practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, safety‑focused environment.
