QA Engineer
Senior Automation Engineer leading advanced automated workflows for nucleic acid extraction, NGS, and molecular assays, driving process optimization, strategic planning, and team leadership in a regulated laboratory environment.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and execution of automated processes, collaborating closely with laboratory teams to align automation initiatives with organizational goals.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and optimize high‑throughput automated platforms for nucleic acid extraction, NGS library preparation, and molecular assays.
- Develop and maintain detailed SOPs, validation protocols, and GxP documentation for all automated workflows.
- Supervise and mentor Level Two Engineers, fostering skill development and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data analytics and process engineering to enhance throughput, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in laboratory automation, preferably in genomics or molecular diagnostics.
- Proficiency in Python scripting, LabVIEW programming, and PLC control systems.
- Strong understanding of GxP regulations, validation, and quality systems.
- Experience with NGS platforms (Illumina, Thermo Fisher) and automated liquid handling systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, strong communication, and ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
