Systems Engineer
Responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining high‑voltage transmission assets, troubleshooting system events, and supporting engineering studies using SCADA, protective relaying, and analytical tools.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control transmission network performance via SCADA and EMS platforms, ensuring reliability and compliance with NERC standards.
- Analyze system disturbances, perform root‑cause investigations, and coordinate corrective actions with field crews.
- Support design and engineering studies for new transmission projects, including load flow, short‑circuit, and stability analyses using MATLAB or similar tools.
- Maintain and test protective relaying schemes, circuit breakers, and PLC‑based control systems.
- Prepare technical reports, operational logs, and documentation for regulatory filings and internal audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; 0–2 years of experience in transmission operations or power system engineering.
- Proficiency with SCADA/EMS, protective relaying, and transmission line design principles.
- Strong analytical skills; experience with MATLAB, PSS®E, or comparable simulation software.
- Knowledge of NERC/WECC reliability standards and electrical safety practices.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering groups.
