About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization platforms.
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to support scalable research workloads.
- Lead automation and scripting efforts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to streamline deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, plan capacity, and ensure high availability of critical applications.
- Develop and enforce IT policies, security controls, and compliance standards across the organization.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or IT operations within a regulated or high‑growth environment.
- Proven expertise in network administration, virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V), and cloud platforms.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven setting.
