Software Engineer
Lead the University’s data strategy, building a unified Enterprise Data Hub to drive advanced analytics, AI, and automation across teaching, research and operations, while ensuring robust data governance and integration across faculties.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the Manchester 2035 vision, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance across all institutional domains.
- Establish and lead an Enterprise Data Hub, designing scalable data architecture, integration pipelines, and a trusted data catalogue for faculty, research, and operational stakeholders.
- Champion advanced analytics, AI, and automation initiatives, translating complex data insights into actionable decisions that enhance teaching, research, and service delivery.
- Collaborate with senior leaders, faculty heads, and IT teams to embed data-driven culture, providing guidance on data stewardship, governance, and best practices.
- Oversee data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and institutional data ethics.
Requirements
- Proven experience in data architecture, governance, and enterprise data platform implementation within a higher‑education or large organisational setting.
- Strong background in advanced analytics, AI/ML, and data‑driven decision making, with a track record of delivering measurable impact.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder‑management skills, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams and driving change.
- Deep understanding of data integration, metadata management, and data quality practices.
- Strong communication skills, able to translate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
