About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee safety engineering programs for rail operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations.
- Lead risk assessment activities, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and hazard identification for new and existing equipment.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to implement corrective actions and safety improvements.
- Manage safety‑related projects, budgets, and schedules, delivering milestones on time and within scope.
- Analyze safety data, generate performance metrics, and produce reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (Master’s preferred) with extensive experience in rail safety engineering.
- Proven expertise in risk assessment methodologies such as FMEA, HAZOP, and quantitative safety analysis.
- Strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations (e.g., FRA, OSHA) and ability to interpret and apply them.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities to influence cross‑functional teams.
