Assistant Chief Operation Engineer - Canadian Nuclear Laboratories

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direction and oversight to a team of operating engineers across multiple utility systems.
• Ensure safe, reliable operation of power generation and distribution assets, adhering to regulatory and corporate standards.
• Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives and maintenance strategies.
• Coordinate with the Chief Operating Engineer to plan and execute capital projects and major outages.
• Act as the interim Chief Operating Engineer, assuming full responsibility during absences.

Requirements

• First‑Class Operating Engineer certification with extensive experience in power plant or large‑scale utility operations.
• Proven leadership and team‑development skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering staff.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, compliance procedures, and reliability engineering practices.
• Experience in project planning, budgeting, and execution of capital improvement projects.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities, capable of interfacing with senior management and external stakeholders.
