Applied Signal Processing and AI/ML Engineer - Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory

Key Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and validate signal processing and AI/ML algorithms for maritime acoustic, RF, and communications sensing.
• Integrate developed models into operational systems and oversee transition from prototype to production.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define requirements, test solutions, and refine performance.
• Analyze large sensor datasets, extract features, and develop robust feature extraction pipelines.
• Document methodologies, results, and best practices for knowledge sharing and future development.

Requirements

• Strong background in signal processing and machine learning, with hands‑on experience in Python and MATLAB.
• Experience working with acoustic and RF sensor data in maritime or similar domains.
• Proficiency in algorithm prototyping, performance evaluation, and deployment in real‑time environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable solutions.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
