Applied Scientist - Robotics & AI - Robotics and AI Institute

Key Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement novel control algorithms to enhance robotic performance in cognitive and athletic domains.
• Conduct interdisciplinary research combining robotics, machine learning, and organic hardware design to push the boundaries of autonomous systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate ethical AI frameworks into robot behavior and decision‑making.
• Analyze experimental data, validate models, and iterate on designs to meet safety and performance benchmarks.
• Publish findings in technical reports and peer‑reviewed journals, presenting at conferences and workshops.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field with strong research background.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Deep understanding of control theory, sensor fusion, and real‑time robotics systems.
• Knowledge of AI ethics principles and experience applying them to autonomous systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced research environment.
