Research Engineer
Lead end‑to‑end research and deployment of advanced NLP and LLM solutions for Alexa, driving conversational AI that powers millions of users with new reasoning and tool‑integration capabilities.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and evaluate novel NLP and LLM architectures to enhance Alexa’s conversational abilities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams of scientists and software engineers to train, fine‑tune, and deploy models at scale.
- Integrate external knowledge sources and reasoning modules to enable tool use and dynamic information retrieval.
- Conduct rigorous experimentation, benchmark results, and iterate on model performance for production readiness.
- Document research findings, publish internal reports, and present insights to stakeholders.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, NLP, or related field with strong research background.
- Proven experience building and deploying large‑scale language models using frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Deep understanding of transformer architectures, fine‑tuning techniques, and evaluation metrics.
- Hands‑on programming in Python and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) for model training and inference.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate research into production‑ready solutions.
