Applied Machine Learning Researcher for Robotics
TII is seeking an Applied Machine Learning Researcher for Robotics to develop and accelerate ML solutions, with a focus on quadrotors and UAVs in GNSS-denied environments. The role involves building new methodologies for fully autonomous systems, working closely with researchers and engineers to implement cutting-edge technology on real platforms for real-world scenarios.
Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a publicly funded research institute, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is home to a diverse community of leading scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and researchers from across the globe, transforming problems and roadblocks into pioneering research and technology prototypes that help move society ahead.
The ideal candidate is capable of accelerating Machine Learning solutions for robotics, with particular focus on quadrotors. It is important to have a good knowledge of the latest state of the art to build new methodologies for UAVs in indoor environments and GNSS denied environments. The candidate will work closely with other researchers and engineers to solve problems related to real time operations. The aim of the team is to bring the latest technology on a real platform, and to fly not only in lab environments, but also in real world scenarios, like building, caves, and any other sort of GNSS denied environment. The aim of the center is to develop and build a fully autonomous system where the UAV relies only on onboard sensors and computation.
At TII, we help society to overcome its biggest hurdles through a rigorous approach to scientific discovery and inquiry, using state-of-the-art facilities and collaboration with leading international institutions. Our rigorous discovery and inquiry-based approach helps to forge new and disruptive breakthroughs in advanced materials, autonomous robotics, cryptography, digital security, directed energy, quantum computing and secure systems.
