Software Engineer
A permanent role developing and maintaining a city‑wide performance management framework, creating interactive dashboards, and supporting departments with data analysis using Power BI, Tableau, SQL and Python.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI and Tableau to support strategic decision‑making.
- Develop and optimise SQL queries and data pipelines to ensure accurate, timely delivery of statutory and performance data.
- Collaborate with all council departments to interpret data requirements, provide analytical guidance and ensure data quality.
- Create data models and visualisations that translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights.
- Maintain and enhance the council’s performance management framework, monitoring key metrics and producing regular performance reviews.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Power BI or Tableau, including dashboard design and data visualisation best practices.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation and reporting.
- Competency in Python for data manipulation, analysis and automation.
- Experience building data models and performance measurement frameworks in a public sector or similar environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for non‑technical stakeholders.
