About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and optimization of mechanical components for the Lawson Machine 26, ensuring compliance with fusion‑specific safety and performance standards.
- Develop and validate finite element and computational fluid dynamics models to predict structural integrity, thermal behavior, and fluid flow under extreme operating conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical solutions with plasma physics, cryogenics, and control systems.
- Analyze experimental data from prototype testing, identify root causes of deviations, and implement design improvements.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience with CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, Fluent).
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis (Python, MATLAB).
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a fast‑paced research environment.
- Knowledge of high‑temperature materials and fusion‑related safety regulations is a plus.
