The KPMG Audit Technology team focuses on building innovative solutions with the Audit function, combining audit expertise with technology to address customer challenges and develop products that simplify their work and enhance Audit Quality. The team collaborates with Product Owners/Managers, Solution, Cloud and Enterprise Architects, Experience Designers, Business Analysts, and Testing specialists to build, deliver, and manage a portfolio of products. The team has seen rapid growth and is looking for individuals who can stay current with tech trends and Audit delivery innovations.
The Role
As a Data Engineer supporting Audit, your main responsibility will be to transform and refine audit processes using advanced analytics. This role is crucial for supporting technology transformation and strategic initiatives. You will help increase automation, improve efficiency, and elevate data quality for the audit business and clients, ultimately saving time and costs while uncovering value in data. Solutions are focused on:

Solutions are primarily built around the Microsoft Azure stack, supplemented by other vendor products as needed. The team operates collaboratively, shares knowledge, embraces challenges, and continuously learns.
Responsibilities
- Extract financial and operational data from diverse sources like ERP systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Clean and transform raw data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with auditing standards, handling missing or inconsistent data and standardizing formats.
- Develop and maintain data models that align with audit requirements, designing structures for analytical procedures and anomaly identification.
- Manage secure databases and data warehouses for audit-related information, including designing efficient database structures and ensuring data integrity.
- Build and optimize ETL (extract, transform, load) processes to facilitate data flow from source systems to the auditing platform, ensuring proper data transformation and loading for analysis.
- Implement measures for audit data quality, including creating data quality checks and validation procedures.
- Develop automated solutions for repetitive data tasks, improving efficiency in processing and analysis through scripting or programming.
- Collaborate closely with auditors to understand data requirements, provide technical support, and facilitate data access.
- Optimize data processing and retrieval systems for performance, including tuning queries and indexing.
- Document data engineering processes, data models, and infrastructure changes for transparency, audit trails, and knowledge transfer.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive knowledge of the KIP strategic platform.
- Experience in architecting, designing, and implementing solutions using the Microsoft Azure stack, specifically technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services, and Power BI.
- Proficiency in data modelling for both operational (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) use cases.
- Familiarity with Alteryx and AWS platform stacks is a plus.
- Experience across end-to-end software development, technology, or consulting projects (strategy, discovery, design, development, and deployment).
- Ability to explain complex processes in both technical and non-technical terms.
- Strong, clear, and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, manage changing priorities, and achieve maximum results.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and a history of building solid relationships.
