Position Summary
The Accounting Data Analyst leads process automation across the accounting function, driving efficiency by automating billing, reporting, journal entries, and other recurring accounting processes. This role also builds automated workflows that connect Accounting with other departments across REPAY, reducing manual handoffs and improving data accuracy and speed across the organization.
This position is ideal for a self-starter who can work independently to identify automation opportunities, prioritize them, and see them through to completion with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate combines real-world accounting experience with strong technical skills across data systems and machine learning and is comfortable partnering with both Accounting and technical teams to design and implement scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Process Automation & Systems
- Lead the automation of billing, journal entries, reconciliations, and recurring reporting processes across the accounting function.
- Identify manual, repetitive accounting workflows and design automated solutions using available data systems, scripting, and workflow automation tools.
- Build and maintain automated workflows that move data and outputs between accounting and other areas of REPAY, reducing manual handoffs and errors.
- Partner with IT and Accounting leadership to evaluate, implement, and optimize systems and tools that support automation and data integrity.
- Document automated processes and establish controls to ensure accuracy, auditability, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze accounting data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools that provide Accounting and Finance leadership with timely, accurate insights.
- Apply machine learning and data science techniques, where appropriate, to improve forecasting, anomaly detection, and reporting efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between accounting and other departments to streamline data handoffs and eliminate manual intervention.
- Work independently to identify automation opportunities across the organization, prioritize initiatives, and drive them to completion with minimal oversight.
- Train and support accounting team members on new tools, systems, and automated processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
